AH&LEF Incoming Freshman Scholarship

In 2008 AH&LEF is created a new scholarship exclusively for incoming freshman to encourage enrollment in hospitality-related undergraduate programs and attract more students to the lodging industry.  The program is being funded from scholarship monies set aside from AH&LEF’s last major capital giving fundraising initiative, the New Century Campaign.

Eligibility Criteria

• Must be an incoming freshman for the 2013 fall semester.
• Enrolled in at least 12 credit hours for the upcoming fall and spring semesters.
• Have a minimum overall GPA of 2.0.
• Be a U.S. citizen or permanent U.S. resident.
• Preference will be given to high school graduates of the Hospitality & Tourism Management Program (HTMP) or Lodging Management Program (LMP).

Scholarship Awards
Baccalaureate Majors - $2,000 full-time enrollment
Associate Majors - $1,000 full-time enrollment

Application Process

Lodging Management Scholarships are Self Nominated, which means students do not have to attend a particular school or be nominated by their respective schools.  Applicants must complete all sections of the AH&LEF Scholarship Application.  AH&LEF academic scholarship applications are only accepted from January 1 to May 1 each year.  Please note that any applications received from May 2 through December 31 will not be reviewed because the information provided will be outdated for the next school year.

I am so pleased to receive your scholarship. 'Thank you' isn’t enough to have been given such a blessing. I am extremely grateful because through this scholarship I have a chance at pursuing my dream.  I will not only have a better education, but a well-paying job where I can give back to my community. I will be able to encourage younger generations, as well as the Hispanic community, to go beyond and pursue a career.
