The Foundation provides resources for educational and research projects that ensure the continued growth and opportunities for the industry, employees, and the benefit of our guests. Since 1995, the Foundation has distributed more than $2.4 million toward grants to benefit the lodging industry. This year the Foundation's annual budget for its research and project funding program averages approximately $275,000 and accepts unsolicited applications twice a year — March 1 and September 1 — from individuals or organizations wishing to conduct research in the lodging industry.
In addition to these annual allocations through its research program, the Foundation has funded special projects in support of AH&LA research priorities, totaling more than $700,000. AH&LEF has also partnered with American Express to produce two important industry tools. American Lodging Excellence: The Keys to Best Practices in the Lodging Industry and "Building Success Through Diversity" seminars, which totaled nearly $500,000.
