AAA (the American Automobile Association) established the Five Diamond Hospitality Scholarship to honor one of hospitality's exceptional students. Each year, AAA selects one Foundation affiliated four-year program to receive the award, and the selected school designates the winning student. In 2008, AAA has selected the University of New Orleans as eighth annual recipient of the award.
Eligibility Criteria
Minimum eligibility criteria for the nominee are:
- Enrolled in at least 12 credit hours for upcoming fall and spring semesters.
- At least a sophomore at the time of nomination.
- Have a minimum 3.0 GPA.
- Must be U.S. citizen or permanent U.S. resident.
Scholarship Award
One $5,000 scholarship is awarded annually.
Application Process
The AAA Scholarship is School Nominated which means the student recipient will be nominated by the University of New Orleans this year. Students attending the University of New Orleans should request nomination for this scholarship through the principal's office. The student nominee must complete all sections of the AH&LEF Scholarship Application and publicity materials which must include a color photograph, a one or two sentence quote from the student stating what the scholarship means to them, a quote from the dean or director of the nominating school; and any additional publicity materials that may have been written regarding the student. Additionally, under separate cover, the University of Nevada-Las Vegas is required to send a transmittal form confirming its nominee. AH&LEF will not consider an applicant without nomination verification from the University of New Orleans.
Participating Schools
Each year, AAA selects one of 75 affiliated schools offering four-year programs. In 2008, AAA has selected the University of New Orleans to nominate the student recipient of the 8th Annual AAA Five Diamond Hospitality Scholarship. View list of AH&LEF affiliated Four-Year Schools.
