Ecolab Professional Development Scholarship
Offered to hospitality professionals seeking EI certification in the following operational areas:
- CHA Certified Hotel Administrator
- CLM Certified Lodging Manager
- CEOE Certified Engineering Operations Executive
- CHHE Certified Hospitality Housekeeping Executive
American Express Professional Development Scholarship
Offered for enrollment in any professional certification, distance course, or distance learning programs.
Eligibility Criteria
- Must be working a minimum of 35 hours per week at a AH&LA member hotel with at least 12 months' hotel experience.
- If applying for a certification, must qualify for the certification program (qualifications will vary depending upon certification). EI will determine the applicant's eligibility for certification.
If you need help confirming your hotel's AH&LA membership, email Crystal Hammond, manager of the Foundation's programs, at chammond@ahlef.org. Include the full/formal name of the hotel with which you're affiliated, complete mailing address, and name of general manager.
Scholarship Awards
Scholarships for certification will cover the cost of the certification study guide (if applicable), examination fee, and certification fee. Scholarships for distance learning programs will forward one course at a time. Course completion is required before the next course is sent. AH&LEF will reimburse EI directly for the costs of all professional development scholarships.
Application Process
Applicants must complete all sections of the AH&LEF Professional Development Scholarship Application (online or download). In order to be considered for an award, applicants must attach/submit the appropriate EI distance learning enrollment form or professional certification form. Applicants will be evaluated according to industry-related work experience; professional, community, and extracurricular activities; and personal attributes including career goals and response to essay question. Scholarships are awarded on a quarterly basis with application deadline dates of January 1, April 1, July 1, and October 1. Only complete applications will be reviewed. Applicants will be notified within 30 days after application.
